Easter 1966. Carrauntoohil. Fatality
A student from UCD was killed whilst navigating on
Carrauntoohil. His body was recovered seven months later.

A member of an English school party was killed on Carrauntoohil.

July 1967. Gap of Dunloe. Search.
A search was undertaken after a car was left unattended
by English visitors.
July 1967. Carrauntoohil. Rescue.
A member of a Cork scout troop broke his leg in a steep
gully on the NE face and was rescued at night in appalling weather.
The area is now known as 'Collins' Gully'.
September 1967. Carrauntoohil. Search.
A Scottish honeymoon couple were grounded in their
tent in bad weather. The search took place over two days.
August 1968. Carrauntoohil. Search.
An English hosteller failed to report his descent after
a night camp, resulting in a widespread search of the Carrauntoohil
area.
June 1969. Carrauntoohil. Search.
A night search for a visitor from Cork City.
July 1969. Carrauntoohil (Eisc na Bhfiach). Fatality.
Search for, and recovery of the body of a Dublin walker.
The area is now known as 'Brother O'Shea's Gully'.
September 1970. Fatality.
The body of an English student was recovered after
a night search.
July 1971. Gap of Dunloe. Rescue.
A German doctor suffered a broken leg and was rescued
at night.
September 1971. Carrauntoohil. Search.
A search was carried out for a 71 year old English
cycle tourist who benighted on the mountain.
January 1972. Kells. Search.
A two day search was undertaken for a local resident.
June 1972. McGillycuddy Reeks. Rescue.
A Dublin walker was rescued from the Reeks ridge after
suffering from a heart complaint.
September 1972. McGillycuddy Reeks. Rescue.
A young female hosteller from Dublin suffered facial
injuries following a fall on the Devil's Ladder and was rescued
at night.
April 1973. Mullaghanattin. Fatality.
The body of a Dublin climber who fell on the Glencar
side of the mountain was recovered at night.
May 1973. Brandon. Search.
Night search for a Tralee walker who was benighted
following the pilgrimage.
September 1973. McGillycuddy Reeks. Alert.
Dawn alert for three hostellers benighted in the Hag's
Glen area.
January 1974. Kenmare. Fatality (non-mountain).
Search for a man from Kenmare, whose body was later
recovered from Kenmare bay.
March 1974. McGillycuddy Reeks. Search.
Dawn search for two Beaufort men who were benighted
on the ridge.
September 1974. Lough Brin. Fatality.
Night search and dawn recovery (in conjunction with
the Air Corps) of the body of a local man.
July 1975. Camp. Search.
Search for a Dublin walker in the mountains over Derrymore.
August 1975. Tomies. Search.
Search for a local man on Tomies.
July 1976. Carrauntoohil. Search.
Dawn search for a Tipperary man who was benighted on
the mountain.
July 1976. Carrauntoohil. Rescue.
Night search and stretcher party to the ridge. The
walker from Belfast had suffered a back injury but walked down
by herself.
July 1976. Dingle. rescue.
An eight year old boy from Paris was rescued from a
sea cliff in the face of the incoming tide.
July 1976. Carrauntoohil. Fatality.
A four day search (which also involved a helicopter)
concluded in the night recovery of the body of a Dutchman who
fell from the Beenkeeragh ridge.
November 1976. Cloon. Search.
Dawn search for a Cork climber who was benighted above
the lake. The climber was subsequently escorted from the hill.
March 1977. Conor Pass. Fatality.
Recovery of the body of a local sheep farmer who was
killed following a fall near the pass.
May 1977. Brandon. Search.
Overnight search for a 66 year old Kilkenny woman who
was benighted. Escorted from the hill.
July 1977. Carrauntoohil. Rescue.
Overnight search and rescue of an English walker from
a gully near Carrauntoohil.
November 1977. McGillycuddy Reeks. Alert.
Cork school party delayed by snow on the ridge.
March 1978. Carrauntoohil. Search.
A teacher from Clonmel and two others lost their way
on descent. In a strong gust of wind the teacher tumbled 300 feet
down a snow gully over Curraghmore. His friends descended via
the Devil's Ladder and alerted the Team. As the Team searched
the gully the man was picked up walking out from the Black Valley,
despite having two fractured vertebrae.
May 1978. Beenbo. Fatality.
A Tralee man died following a fall whilst bouldering
on an outcrop. He had been walking with a large group, who recovered
his body, assisted by the Team.
June 1978. McGillycuddy Reeks. Assistance.
During the annual organised Reeks walk, two walkers
from Dublin and Cork suffering from exhaustion were escorted off
the hill by Team members.
July 1978. Carrauntoohil. Fatality.
An experienced English walker fell while descending
the North face of the mountain (a regular navigational mistake
due to lack of clarity in the maps used at the time). He was discovered
alive by a local farmer, but was dead on the arrival of the Team.
August 1978. McGillycuddy Reeks. Rescue.
An English walker injured her leg at the ford and was
evacuated with the assistance of a tractor.
October 1978. McGillycuddy Reeks. Alert.
A group of Dublin walkers were benighted while attempting
to traverse the ridge.
March 1979. Knocknadobar. Rescue.
A girl collapsed with exhaustion and was stretchered
off the hill.
March 1979. Kilgarvan (Borlin Valley). Search.
A Dutch girl was reported missing, and the Team searched
the area where she was last seen. She was never traced.
June 1979. Caherconree. Rescue.
A Tralee diabetic failed to take insulin and collapsed
unconscious on the hill. Team personnel revived her and stretchered
her to an awaiting Civil Defence ambulance.
October 1979. Dingle (Burnam). Fatality (non-mountain).
A German student was reported missing and Gardaí
request the Team to search the sea cliffs. The victim's shoe was
located on the beach 600' down.
October 1979. Carrauntoohil. Rescue.
An English walker slipped while descending the North
face and sustained severe bruising. One of his friends went for
help but got lost and returned to the casualty after five hours.
The other then went to raise the alarm, and the Team evacuated
the casualty that night.
